Richard E. Forrest

North Hoosick – Richard E. “Dick” Forrest, 70, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He had resided on Route 67 in North Hoosick with his wife Charlotte (Butler) Forrest.
Born on August 22, 1940, in Bennington, VT, Dick was the son of Beatrice (Maroney) Forrest of Bennington and the late Edward Forrest. He was educated at schools in Bennington. Dick worked for the Logistic One Company in Saratoga Springs, NY, as a truck driver. He also worked for the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department for many years. He was a member of the National Guard and the Hoosick Baptist Church and was involved with many of the Church’s activities. Dick enjoyed time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors, other than his mother Beatrice and wife Charlotte, include his daughters, Lori Ann and Tammy of Williamstown, MA, his sons, William Forrest and wife Pam and Stephen Forrest and Beri Jones all of Hoosick Falls, NY, his step-children, Neil Cooney and JoAnne Brahan, John Cooney and his wife Trisha and Lisa Cooney Bell all of Hoosick Falls and Laurie Washilelwski and husband Dan of Stillwater, NY, his brother, Gary Forrest and wife Judy of Bennington, and his sister, Judy Fairbanks and husband Allen of Virginia. Dick is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on Tuesday February 1, at 2 pm from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Baptist Church or the Lou Gehrig’s Disease Foundation through the funeral home.
