Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Meetings 1939-1942

Transcribed from the minutes of meetings of the first three years of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department are the minutes of the SVFD for meeting #4.
Stephentown, Nov 14, 1939
The 4th regular meeting of the SF Dept. held on the above date in the town rooms. On roll call the following members were absent:  Lawrence Manns, William Hall, Harold Sutherland, Raymond Deamer, Ralph Barett, Leland Snow, Howard Sweener.
Committee reported $43.31 received from the card party, Oct 11th, expenses 15.90, smoke mask 1.00, janitor 5.00 to grange for use of hall 1.20 for prizes total 23.10.  $20.21 turned over to treasurer.
Ralph Barrett, Lawrence Manns and Raymond Deamer were dropped as firemen account not attending meetings. Secy to write them letter of notification. Under new business, nominations for 1940 officers:  President- Gus Johnson, Chief- Douglas Feathers, Asst chief-Francis Overlock, Capt-Bert Bullion, Secy-L. Hewitt, Tres-Mike Ward.  Frederick Brown resigned as chief to take effect Jan 1st.  Letter of appreciation received from the family of Eith Brown.
Oct 25th, the fire department received its first call at the home of Eugene Vosburg-chimney fire which was extinguishers in 20 minutes.
