Stephentown Volunteer Fire Dept. Historical Information Discovered

February 4, 2011 By eastwickpress

transcribed by Rik McClave
The Stephentown Fire District #1 was formed in May of 1939 after a serious fire burned a local business. In July of 1939 the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department was organized to provide the manpower for the fire engine that was being purchased by the District.   Recently, after the passing of a 50-year member of the Department, records dating back to the original formation were turned over to the Department. Minutes of meetings between 1939 and 1941 are being transcribed.
