Ruth Elizabeth Rudd

Hoosick – Ruth Elizabeth (Bovie) Rudd, 88, passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 12, 2011. She married Lyman A. Rudd on July 20, 1941, and they had fifty-four happy years together. He died in 2001.
Born on November 25, 1922, Ruth was the daughter of the late Sanford and S. Albertine (Turner) Bovie. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Mapletown in East Hoosick, NY, and graduated from Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, NY, in 1941. Ruth was employed at the E Z Mills and Hoy Manufacturing Company until she joined her husband and Lillian Spendiff as a partner in owning and operating McNeilly’s Greenhouse.
Ruth was a life long member of the Hoosick Baptist Church where she held positions of Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and Deacon. She always enjoyed working with the young people.
Survivors include cousins as well as her extended family, the Timothy Etmans family, the Kevin Allard family and many special friends, and her sisters-in-law, Marietta Wilson, Marguerite Bushee and Marion Perkins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 1 pm from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Burial will be at the Mapletown Cemetery later in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Ruth’s memory.
