Letter To The Editor – Conflict Of Interest – Grafton

March 4, 2011 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
As someone who attended the February meeting of the Grafton Town Board, I feel compelled to respond to the letter to the editor of the Eastwick Press [in the February 25 issue].  A number of questions were asked of the Town Board. A resident of the Town asked if Tyler Sawyer was indeed the Town’s Republican Party Chairman?  The answer was a meek that they believe he was. This resident than asked why Mr. Sawyer was appointed the Town’s Bookkeeper? Since in this position of Chairman, he has significant influence over whom the Republican Party nominates for the Town Board, and then this very Board names him to the second highest paid position in the Town, is this not at least a major conflict of interest?  The Town Board had no answer for this resident.
I would like to strongly recommend that all Grafton Town residents attend meetings and decide for yourself if this Board is simply that uninformed or does not want the residents to know what is really going on.
