Stanley A. Shepard

Stephentown – Stanley A. (Stan the Man, Stash) Shepard, 45, of Route 43, Stephentown, NY, died suddenly at his residence on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Death was attributed to natural causes.
Born January 23, 1966, in Troy, NY, he was the son of Gordon and Joyce I. Geerholt Shepard of Stephentown. A lifelong resident of Stephentown, Stanley graduated from Averill Park High School in 1985 and attended the West Stephentown Baptist Church. In high school, he worked for the Town of Nassau, NY, and Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Stanley continued there after graduation before working at Berlin Lumber and Hudson Valley Community College. Most recently he worked for many years in the maintenance department of Averill Park High School (which dedicated a yearbook to him) and at the time of his death at Van Rensselaer Manor. Stanley was a former volunteer fireman with the Hoags Corner Volunteer Fire Department and on the Board of Directors for the Hillside Cemetery in Stephentown. He enjoyed carpentry and birds.
Besides his parents, Stanley is survived by his son, Jesse A. Shepard of Stephentown, siblings, Deborah and husband Ron Rousseau of Averill Park, Gordon Shepard Jr. and wife Darlene of North Greenbush, NY, and Wayne and wife Olya Shepard of Flushing, NY, along with nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, March 13, at 4 pm in the West Stephentown Baptist Church, 1672 NY 43, where Rev. Trygve Tomlinson will officiate. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Spring burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Church for visitation on Sunday starting at 2 pm.
Stanley’s family would appreciate memorial contributions in his memory be given either to the ASPCA, because of his love of animals, or to the West Stephentown Baptist Church in care of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
