Another Truck Crash On Route 7

The Hoosick Fire Department was called to an accident on Route 7 at 5:45 pm Friday, April 1. Some joke! A box style refrigerated produce truck rolled over on the driver’s side in the exact spot where the propane tanker went off the road on Monday, March 28. “The truck stayed on the road this time,” said Hoosick Fire Chief Bill Rifenburgh. The driver was okay and refused treatment, the Chief added. This time they were able to keep one lane open for alternating traffic, and the road was cleared by 9 pm.
Unusual Year
Chief Rifenburgh said this has been an unusual year. “We’ve answered over 60 calls so far. The ice storm had 30 calls of its own.” We’ve covered a lot of structure fires this year, he added.
Fire At The Coffee Connection
It was a quiet weekend.Then, on Monday at 3:20 am, they responded to a call at the little Coffee Connection kiosk on Route 7. A trucker going by noticed the fire on the outside of the building and called it in. The structure was saved, and it was open for business later that morning. The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
Propane Scare
Tuesday at 12:50 am the Department responded to an odor of propane call at the new apartment complex just before the Vermont state line on Route 7. No leaks could be found. The tanks were shut down and the propane company was called to investigate further.
Mutual Support
Tuesday afternoon the Hoosick Fire Department supported the Raymertown Fire Department as they fought a house fire.
