Barbara M. Jones

Petersburgh – Barbara M. Wager Jones, 81, of 19647 NY Rt. 22, Petersburgh, NY, entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2011, after a short courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by her husband, two daughters and her sweet Becca.
She was born on July 10, 1929, at home in Berlin, NY, to the late Sidney E. and Eva (Alderman) Wager.
She attended Berlin Central School and married George C. Jones on July 12, 1947. She worked many places in her life – Churches Garage, Pownal Tannery, Lamp Post Inn with Clara Johnson and the Town of Petersburgh Election Board. She also volunteered at BPI where many people loved her wit and loving, caring nature. Her greatest achievement was raising her daughters and helping with and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for her crocheting ability she made many pineapple doilies and baby sweater sets, gifting family members and others.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George C. Jones of Petersburgh, her daughters, Sandra L. and husband David Hewitt of Petersburgh and Susan M. Jones of Bennington, VT, her five grandchildren, Machelle and husband Jim Hurlburt of Hoosick Falls, NY, David Hewitt Jr. and his friend Becca of Petersburgh, Gretchen Gundrum of S. Burlington, VT, and her fiancé Henry Quinones, Amanda Morse and Krystyn Denue of Bennington, her ten great-grandchildren, Joseph Nusca, Anthony (AJ) and Ziena (Z) Hurlburt of Hoosick Falls, Joshua and Hannah Gundrum, Eathan and Maeson Morse of Bennington, Tristan and Zachary Quinones of S. Burlington and Ian Denue of Bennington, her brother, Ivan E. and wife Shirley Wager of Berlin, and her sister, Janice W. Grant of Cherry Plain, NY, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by a loving sister, Ruth Woodcock and husband Raymond, and a loving brother in law, Frank J. Grant Sr.
Memorial services will be private in the spring at her request. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer. Co., Relay for Life or the Cancer Center of SWVMC, Bennington, in care of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, P.O. Box 361, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
