The Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), represented by two local Berlin youths, Courtney Kellar (grade 9) and Jackson Burhans (grade 7), were recently presented with 11 beautiful hand made baby quilts donated by the Grafton Quilters in support of the students’ current project.

Courtney and Jackson have chosen to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Albany Medical Center by collecting tiny blankets for the newborns in that unit. To date they have collected over 40 blankets. Courtney has a particular interest in the NICU since she spent the first few months of her life in that unit, and Jackson has shown an interest in sewing. The combination of the two interests led to this project.
The FCCLA focuses on community service and raising awareness for the projects that the students choose.
The FCCLA will compete at a national level called National Programs in Action. Albany Medical Center is the local Miracle Network Hospital.
