Gary L. Kroll

Hoosick – Gary L. Kroll, 62, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer. He had resided on Groveside Road in Hoosick, NY, with his partner of forty-one years, Andrew Hanerfeld, and their companion of twenty-seven years, Sam Taylor.
Born on May 15, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, Gary was the son of Dorothy (Marvin) Surasky of Wayne, NJ, and the late Daniel Kroll. Gary attended High School in Great Neck, NY, and graduated from Cardozo Law School in New York City with his Doctorate in Law. Gary worked as an audio engineer for Decca Records in the 1980s, as well as teaching. He last worked as a dairy farmer locally. He enjoyed music, skiing, sailing and his animals, especially his Steer Beau.
Survivors other than Andrew, Sam and his mother, Dorothy, include his sister, Heidi Markowitz and her husband Howard and their children Danielle and Lee.
Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Services will be announced at a later date.
