Jackson Burhans and Courtney Kellar brought home gold medals from the New York State FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference. Courtney and Jackson have been working since fall to make and deliver baby quilts to the NICU at Albany Medical Center. Sierra Maxon also received a gold medal as she presented her Chapter Showcase project, showcasing all of the 2010-2011 activities of Berlin FCCLA.
All three Berlin students are eligible to represent New York State at the National Meeting in Anaheim, California, in July.
The conference, with the theme, Dive Into Leadership, was held on the Syracuse University campus, March 31 to April 2. It included competitive events, leadership workshops, keynote speaker Joe Trionfero (Show Of Love) and installation of the 2011-2012 NY State Officers.
The students were accompanied by Dianne Mosher, advisor, and Jennifer Burhans, Chairman of the NYS Board of Trustees, FCCLA. FCCLA is a dynamic youth leadership organization with the family as its central focus. There are over 200,000 members nationwide.
