SMA Auction Raises $30,000

April 8, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
A good-sized crowd filled the Saint Mary’s Academy gym Saturday evening, April 2, for the school’s annual auction. The bidding was wild in some instances, especially when it came to items made by students in the various SMA classes. In some instances a bidder walked away with a real bargain and in other cases the bidding went sky high! One hundred and twenty-five items were auctioned, ranging in value from $45 to $2,600. There were also several silent auction items that went for a pretty penny. The evening was a great success. There were plenty of delicious refreshments and SMA alumni socializing.
The event raised over $30,000 for the school. “We are grateful to the community and to the St. Mary’s Academy family for its support,” school officials said on Wednesday. Hats off to Bridget Crawford and the committee for putting together a spectacular event.
