Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Meetings 1939-1942

Transcribed from the minutes of meetings of the first three years of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department are the minutes of the SVFD for meeting #15 and 16.
Stephentown, October 8, 1940
The 15th meeting of the SF Dept. met in Town Hall at 8 PM.  Chief Feathers reported he had hired orchestra and caller for dance.  Gus Johnson to take care of posters.  The members voted to give a door prize $5. For kitchen Gus Johnson, Mike Ward, Art Staples.  Members to meet at hall to decorate Oct. 30th.  Tickets L. Hewitt & Gus Johnson.  Prizes $25.  Refreshments for Nov. Gus Johnson, Harvey Pease;  Dec – Don Hall; Jan – Walter Sykes, Calvin Atwater; Feb – Mike Ward, Art Staples; Mar – Douglas Feathers, Francis Overlock; May – Joe Ward; June Al Silvernail, Frederick Brown; July/Oct – L. Hewitt, Si Hicks; Nov – Howard Sweener, Geo. Overlock; Dec – Gus Johnson, Harvey Pease.

Note:  The minutes do not indicate anyone appointed for refreshments for either the April or September meetings.
Stephentown, November 12, 1940
The 16th regular meeting of the SF Dept. was held in Town Hall on the above date.  Chief reported fire truck called to Darrow School at Lebanon for which a donation of $10 was received. Treasurer made his report as $107.05 was on hand.  Under new business nominations was made for the year 1941.
President – Gus Johnson; Chief – Douglas Feathers; Asst Chief – Francis Overlock; Capt. – Bert Bullion; Secretary – L. Hewitt; Treasurer – Mike Ward.  The election of officers will be held in December.  The Dept. voted to buy tanks of gas and slate for use in our rooms for the price of around $18.

The members suggested the chief present to the fire commissioners that they provide 4 pair boots and 12 pairs mittens to be carried on the truck.  Also a first aid kit.
