Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Meetings 1939-1942

Transcribed from the minutes of meetings of the first three years of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department are the minutes of the SVFD for meeting #17 and 18.
Stephentown, December 10, 1940
The 17th regular meeting of the SF Dept. met in their rooms on above date. On roll call Ulysses Sweener, Francis Overlock, Art Staples, Richard Tyde absent.  Letter read from the Fire Assoc. from Hudson for donation same to be laid on table for further investigation.  The bill of $15.00 ordered paid to MacClintock for gas & burner.  Chief made his report of fires since last meeting.  The application of Clarence Carpenter was received and placed on file.  Any member who is drafted will be allowed to return to the company when he returns.  Motion made, second and carried that secretary cast one ballot for the candidate[s] as nominated.

Stephentown, January 14, 1941
The 18th regular meeting of the SF Dept. met in their rooms on above date.  Chief reported 2 fires; Ed Smiths and Martin Dymond chimney fires.  Motion made by L. Hewitt, seconded by Douglas Feathers and carried that those who have placed petitions to become members asked to attend meetings.  The department voted to procure memorials for deceased members.
Treasure reports $111.00 as on hand.
