On Saturday, May 14, at 10:30 am, Laine Crandall and AnnMarie Keenan, local dairy goat enthusiasts, will be on hand with a few of their newly born kids – baby goats recently born to their herds in Grafton. They will talk about the health benefits of goat milk, how to get started raising goats, and they will have information on hand for attendees. Crandall breeds the American LaMancha dairy goat, and Keenan raises the miniature Nigerian Dwarf. For anyone interested, books and goats will be available for sale.
Both women are members of the Southern Vermont Dairy Goat Association, which recently donated children’s books on goat farming to the Grafton Community Library. Other resources on dairy goat farming can be obtained for Library patrons through Upper Hudson Library System and nationwide interlibrary loan.
The Grafton Community Library is located at 2455 NY 2 near the Town center.
