Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church – Where’s Waldo?

May 6, 2011 By eastwickpress

submitted by Sherry Bowman-Kluck
A group of adolescents with the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church’s Youth Group had the opportunity to spend the afternoon of March 26 at the Crossgates Mall in Albany. But it was no ordinary trip to the mall. The excursion involved playing the game Where’s Waldo? The game book series stars Waldo, a curious little guy wearing glasses, dressed in a red and white striped shirt with a matching hat, who uses a walking stick and backpack to travel everywhere.

That afternoon the youth, supervised by adult leaders, split into two groups with the purpose of finding Waldo along with a number of other items on a list, to be found or completed. The teens found themselves doing foolish tasks and finding unusual items. One teen could even be seen singing “Happy Birthday” to one of the doormen at the mall! Eventually, they did discover the peculiar Waldo, Assistant Pastor and Youth Program Director Joshua Michaels (he is well over 6 feet tall). The day ended with the group thanking God for a fun and safe trip, eating lots of pizza and recollecting the silly stories of their day’s adventure.
Children in grades three through twelve meet regularly on Monday evenings at the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church from 7 to 8:30 pm. Please contact Assistant Pastor Joshua Michaels at 658-2868 if you are interested in more information about the Youth Program.
