Hoosick Falls Clean-Up Day And Block Party Is This Saturday

May 13, 2011 By eastwickpress

Come be part of a community effort to do a little spring cleaning in the Village of Hoosick Falls this Saturday, May 14. The Hoosick Area Youth Center and Community Coalition (HAYC3) has organized a large group of volunteers to support this effort, but more volunteers are needed. Even if you only have an hour of time to donate, please help.
Volunteers can stop by Wood Park any time after 9 am to pick up special trash bags and gloves. Please bring your own rakes and other tools. If you do not have a place to clean, let the organizers know. A list of more than 20 senior citizens who could use some assistance has been compiled.
Businesses, organizations, churches, families, friends and individuals are all encouraged to join in this effort to make Hoosick Falls shine! More than two dozen groups have already registered to help. To add your group to the list, call 518-686-9050.
Block Party
After the clean-up, everyone is invited to Wood Park for a Community Block Party from 12 to 3 pm. There will be live music, hot dogs, chips, water and more. Equipment for games such as volleyball, kickball, Frisbee, etc. will be provided. Feel free to bring your own as the community gathers together to celebrate the great weather.
If you would like to help with the party, please bring a dish to share. Paper products will be available, but to cut down on trash, everyone is encouraged to bring their own place setting if possible.
Non-perishable food items will be collected for the HACA Food Pantry as well. Help those in the community who are struggling by making a donation.
