John E. O’Dell

Buskirk – John E. O’Dell, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on the Buskirk-West Hoosick Road in Buskirk, NY, with his wife Margaret (Stevens) O’Dell.
Born on September 14, 1934, in Troy, NY, John was the son of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Brownell) O’Dell. He attended the Main Street School in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 to 1961. John was employed at Oak Industries in Hoosick Falls until retiring for health reasons. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors, other than his wife Margaret, include sisters, Mary Jane O’Dell of Hoosick Falls and Barbara Zagorski of Connecticut, brothers, Robert, William and Richard O’Dell, all of Hoosick Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 30, at 3 pm from the West Hoosick Baptist Church on the Buskirk-West Hoosick Road in West Hoosick, NY. Relatives and friends called at the Church from 2 pm until the start of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Hoosick Baptist Church or the Diabetes Foundation through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, who are handling the arrangements.
