Join Us For The Berlin July 4th Parade

May 27, 2011 By eastwickpress

The Berlin July 4th Parade Committee cordially invites you to join us for the 2011 Independence Day Parade. The annual parade will be held on Monday, July 4, at 11 am. This year’s theme is “States on Parade.” Join in the fun and community spirit! Civic, school and church groups, businesses and individuals, both in and outside the community, are invited to participate. Whether you’re a big group or want to parade solo, it’s everyone’s celebration! It is not necessary to follow the theme; it is offered only as a guide. There is no entry fee, and prizes are awarded. The Grand Prize float is awarded $125. Other float award categories are Best in Theme, Funniest and Prettiest, with prizes ranging up to $100. Ribbons are awarded for horses, cars, boats, antique equipment, decorated bicycles, costumed walkers and equestrian groups. Trophies are awarded to the best appearing and the most members in line fire companies. Refreshments will be available for all participants at the Berlin Firehouse immediately following the parade, compliments of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company.
Support The Tradition
We need your support to continue this time honored tradition of community spirit. The cost of marching bands, supplies, awards and other expenses add up quickly. Whether you have enjoyed the parade in the past or will be bringing your family for the first time, we urge you to send a contribution to us at the address below. No amount is too small, and your support is greatly needed and appreciated. This annual event also would not be possible without volunteers. Would you be interested in joining the committee or volunteering some time on a project or on the day of the parade? If so, we would love to hear from you.
To learn more, or for a participant entry form, please call Jane Fitzgerald at 658-2624. Consider helping us celebrate the vibrant spirit of our small town with your contribution to support this community event. This is your parade, and we hope for it to continue to be a part of your 4th of July celebration for years to come. Please make your contribution payable to the Berlin July 4th Parade Committee and mail it to Jane Fitzgerald, P.O. Box 152, Berlin, NY, 12022.
