Harold E. Pleasant

West Hoosick – Harold E. Pleasant, 96, passed away on June 18, 2011, at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. He had resided with his wife Sadie (Peters) Pleasant on the Buskirk/West Hoosick Road in West Hoosick, NY.
Born on July 1, 1914, in Brooklyn, VT, Harold was the son of the late Marshall and Lillian (Sheppard) Pleasant. He attended schools in Bennington. Harold was a veteran of the United States Army serving in 1945. He was formerly employed at the Volkswagen dealership in Bennington as Service Manager, Thurber’s Garage in Bennington and at Cahill’s Garage in Hoosick, NY. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors, other than his wife Sadie, include his daughters, Lillian LaRosa of Salem, NH, and Margaret O’Dell of West Hoosick, and his sons, Richard Pleasant of California, Robert Pleasant of Bennington and Edward Pleasant of South Carolina. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Harold is pre-deceased by a son, Harold E. Pleasant, sisters, Irene Jepson and Mary Salvie, and a brother, James Pleasant.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 22, at 11 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial followed the service at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
