On Sunday, June 12, Hoosick Girl Scouts their families, and their leaders gathered together for their year end Honor Ceremony at Hoosac School. The program began with a procession of scouts lead by the youngest Daisies (kindergartners) and a presentation of flags by one of the Ambassador troops (a sophomore and four juniors) and with remarks from Service Unit Manager Joyce Brewer. Thanks were extended to everyone for attending the ceremony. The girls worked very hard over the year to earn special badges and to live up to the Girl Scout law.

Presentation of Flags was conducted by Troop 1313. Troop 1104 led the Pledge of Allegiance. Presentation of Girl Scout Colors was conducted by Troops 1144 and 1090. The Girl Scout Law was recited by Troops 1104 and 1259. Rev. Lorrie Lyons of St Mark’s Episcopal Church was given the Special Friend of the Girl Scouts Award.

Troop Certificates were presented to the Independent Pathway Girls, first and second year Daisies in Troop 1090, first year Brownies in Troop 1259, first year Juniors in Troop 1104, second year Juniors of Troop 1285, Cadettes and Juniors of Troop 1144, Cadettes from Troop 1376, Cadettes/Ambassadors from Troop 1415 and Senior/Ambassador from Troop 1313. Individuals received certificates and various pins and patches from their leaders for their commitment to Girl Scouts, in addition to being specifically recognized if they were “bridging” to the next level of scouting. Special recognition was also made of the three Ambassador scouts who are graduating from high school and not present because they were on their senior field trip.
Cathy Gee Graney, was awarded the Girl Scouts of USA Outstanding Volunteer and Outstanding Leader awards. These awards are presented to leaders and volunteers who exhibit leadership and service that goes above and beyond what is required. Graney, an eleven year member of the leader team and three year membership manager and media liaison, was recognized for her “service, leadership and dedication to the Girl Scout Movement” in a letter and certificates from Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York. The heartfelt nomination letters from her troop and leader peers were also shared with Graney.
The flags were retired by Troop 1415. A reception followed the ceremony with plenty of good food for all. Special thanks go to Rosemarie Rogers for planning the event so superbly and making it special, to all the parents/guardians who support Girl Scouts in so many ways, and to the leaders for their tireless hours of creativity, encouragement, and dedication.
