Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Meetings 1939-1942

Transcribed from the minutes of meetings of the first three years of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department are the minutes of the SVFD for meeting #24 and #25.
Stephentown, 8/12 – 41 sic [August 12, 1941]
The 24 regular meeting was held in town hall. There were 9 who signed up for the fireman school to be held at East Greenbush School.
A check for $10 was received from Sand Lake Ins. Co. for attending fire at A. G. Green Store, Berlin. Everett Shepard advises he does not wish to act as fireman.
It was voted to have a clam steam for fireman and friends.  Committee appointed (August 24) Gus Johnson-Don Hall-Douglas Feathers-Albert Silvernail.
Clarence Carpenter was elected to become a member of the fire dept.

Stephentown, Sept 9, 1941
The 25th regular meeting was held in the town hall. Fifteen members was present. There was some discussion as to having every fireman learn how to operate the pumper and asst Chief Overlock was designated to see about having meetings for instruction.
