Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Meetings 1939-1942

Transcribed from the minutes of meetings of the first three years of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department are the minutes of the SVFD for meeting #26 and #26.
Stephentown, Oct 14, 1941
The 26th regular meeting of the fire department was held in town hall. Chief reported fire at Lindsay farm. Motion made, seconded that the next meeting be held in fire house at that time each member to be instructed how to run the pumper.— carried.
Motion was made by Francis Overlock that meetings start prompt at 8 o’clock.
Refreshment com for next meeting:  Nov, Silas Hicks – L. Hewitt; Dec, Gus Johnson – Don Hall; Jan, Clarence Carpenter – Howard Sweener.
Gus Johnson was named to see Fred Shaw in regard to use of his hall and arrangements for a dance. Special meeting to be held at firehouse Oct 21 to make arrangements for dance.
Treasurers report $17.50 spend on clam steam.  Balance $112.00

The 27th regular meeting of the S.F. Dept held in town hall on above date.  Application of Arthur Pease recommended by L.F. Hewitt received and placed on file.
Committee appointed for dance.  Kitchen, Gus Johnson, Mike Ward, Silas Hicks.   Tickets, Mike Ward
Nominations made as follows.
President – Silas Hicks.  Chief – Douglas Feathers.  Asst Chief – Francis Overlock.  Capt. – Walter Sykes.  Secretary – Donald Hall.  Tres – Mike Ward – Alvin Geerholt – Harvey Pease.
The election will be held in Dec.  Treasurer report of $50 received as a contribution toward a new fire house and not to be used for any other purpose.
