The Grafton Community Library has announced the winner of the first annual Lillis Bunce Memorial Award. Jamie Weir will receive the award given annually to a Grafton resident who is a junior in high school and has practiced community service in one of the following areas – library/literacy, gardening/environmental or civic organizations.
Jamie Weir is the daughter of James and Lynn Weir of Grafton. She is a junior at Berlin Central School. Jamie has given many hours of service as a volunteer at the Library, at a nursing home and at her church.
Over her lifetime spent in Grafton, Lillis Bunce served her community in many ways. She helped found the Library and served as Library Director on a volunteer basis for twenty-five years. This award is given to honor Mrs. Bunce’s service to the community and to inspire Grafton’s youth to carry on her spirit of community service.
