Wilbert J. Allard

Hoosick Falls – Wilbert J. Allard, 81, passed away on May 29, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Donahue) Allard, who died in 1987. Wilbert resided on Parsons Avenue in Hoosick Falls, NY.
He was born March 20, 1930, in Hoosick Falls and was the son of the late Clara (Murphy) and Wilbert H. Allard. Wilbert graduated from Walter A. Wood High School. He then enlisted in the Army serving in the Korean War. He worked for Columbia Box, Falls Hardware, L&S Lumber and the Troy Local Plumbing and Steamfitters Union. Wilbert later owned a plumbing and heating business in Hoosick Falls. He was a member of the Greenwich VFW Post # 7291 and the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Wilbert also enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie Vitro and husband Robert of Hoosick Falls, his two sons, Gary Allard of Albany, NY, and Kevin Allard and wife Helene of Hoosick Falls, his grandchildren, Michael and James Allard of Albany and Dan and Amanda Vitro of Hoosick Falls, and his sister, Helen Welsh. He is pre-deceased by two sisters, Mary Baldwin and Rita Martin.
Services will be held on June 30; the time will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
