Doris M. St. Hilaire

Hoosick Falls – Doris M. St. Hilaire, 93, went home to her heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She was the wife of the late William St. Hilaire, who died in 2000; they had been married for sixty years.
Born on January 31, 1918, in Hoosick Falls, NY, Doris was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Gladys (Bierwirth) Niles. She was educated at Hoosick Falls High School and was a lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed spending her time at her home on Church Street and being with family and friends. Doris was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include her daughters, Lu Farrara and husband Joe of Cambridge, NY, and Venice, FL, and Kathy Harrington and husband Bill of Buford, GA, her grandchildren, Desi Farrara and companion Pam Hunt of Shushan, NY, Theresa Franklin of Cambridge, Jason Harrington and wife Doreen of Griffin, GA, and Kacey Wilson and wife Britt of Braselton, GA. Doris is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, Josh Franklin, Jade Franklin, Justin Farrara, Brandon Rowe, Kyle Irick, Alex Farrara, Will Harrington, Evie Harrington, Beth Harrington, Chase Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Addie Wilson and Bennett Wilson and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Joan Niles, who was a wonderful caring caregiver, and her neighbor and dearest friend, Gladys Coonradt. Doris is pre-deceased by her sister, Jean Fowler, and brothers, Earl “Buddy” Niles and Robert Niles.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 23, at 9:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister of St. Joseph Carondelet through the funeral home.
