Sky High Adventures and Grafton Lakes State Park announce that Off-Road Triathlons will be held at Grafton Lakes State Park the weekend of July 16 and 17. The Sky High Kids Off-Road Triathlon, a USA Triathlon sanctioned youth event, will take place on Saturday, July 16, with a 9 am start time. The Sky High Off-Road Triathlon at Grafton Lakes, a Nissan Xterra Points Series Race, will take place on Sunday, July 17, with an 8 am start time.
The Sky High Kids Triathlon includes a 100m swim (within the roped area of Long Pond), 5k bike ride (paved sidewalks, paths and walkways) and 1k run (around the picnic area). The race is open to youth ages 7-17.
The Xterra Course includes a 1k swim, 20k mountain bike ride and a 6k trail run.
Participants may register on-line at www.skyhighadventures.com or pick up an application at the Grafton Lakes State Park office. Course viewing, packet pick-up and late registration will take place on Saturday, July 16, from 7 to 8 am for the Kids Triathlon and from 12 to 3 pm for the Xterra. The Children’s Triathlon allows for only individual entry. However, the Xterra triathlon may be competed as an individual or as a team.
The top finishers in each age group of the Xterra event earn points to qualify for the Xterra National Championships in Lake Tahoe and the World Championships in Hawaii. Several Grafton athletes qualify and compete each year in the National and World Xterra Championships. The Xterra Triathlon held in Grafton Lakes State Park has become nationally known for its excellence, and is a true test for any athlete seeking a challenge.
