Jessie L. Stevens

Hoosick – Jessie L. Stevens, 93, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. She had resided on South Street in Hoosick, NY, with her daughter Norma Stevens. Jessie was the wife of the late Carl “Shorty” Stevens, who died in 1999.
Born on February 21, 1918, in Hoosick, Jessie was the daughter of Edwin and Kate (Mattison) Surdam. She attended schools in the Town of Hoosick and worked at area factories in her younger years. Jessie enjoyed gardening and bowling; she bowled in leagues in Bennington and Hoosick where she served as secretary for years.
Survivors include her daughter, Norma, and her many friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 28, at 11:30 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Burial followed the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 am until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Falls Health Center or the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
