Mary Ann Maderer

Hoosick Falls – Mary Ann Maderer, 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born on September 21, 1931, in Toledo, OH, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruby (Johnson) Maderer. She was a graduate of Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. Mary Ann was an editor at Scripps Howard Publishing and CBS in Manhattan prior to her work as a children’s textbook editor. In her off hours Mary Ann frequented the Metropolitan Opera and the symphony; she had tremendous love for opera and other choral music. Mary Ann enjoyed bird watching, a rollicking mystery novel and a good burger.
Mary Ann was very active with many charities throughout her life. The charities she was active in were the National Wildlife Federation, American Indian College Fund, National Humane Education Society, National Federation of the Blind and Easter Seals.
Survivors include her brother, Charles Robert Maderer, and his four children, Donna, Ann, Carol and Robert.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
