Michael R. Okerman

Hoosick Falls – Michael R. Okerman, 70, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on Applegate Drive in Bennington.
Born on April 2, 1941, in Port Chester, NY, Michael was the son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Montgomery) Okerman. He graduated from the Hoosick Falls High School, Class of 1959. Michael was a member of the National Guard Unit in Hoosick Falls. He was a self-employed general contractor in the Hoosick Falls area for many years. Michael also worked at Lydall Corporation and Welden Industries, both in Hoosick Falls, and Stanley Tools and the Parklawn Cemetery in Bennington until retiring.
He was a member of the St. Stanislaw Society and the Eagles Club in Hoosick Falls, and the V.F.W Post # 1332, Elks Lodge and Eagles, all in Bennington. He was a history buff and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, daughter Bethany A. Okerman of White Creek, NY, sons, Mark Okerman of Milwaukee, WI, and Robert Okerman of Hoosick Falls, and his brothers, Richard Okerman of Hoosick, NY, and David Okerman of Hoosick Falls. He is also survived by several cousins. He is pre-deceased by a brother, James Okerman.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
