The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad extends congratulations to Lisa Senecal Moseley and Pamela Mayhew on recently becoming Certified New York State EMTs. Lisa and Pam did their six months of training through the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad and both scored high on the New York EMT test. The class includes extensive training in patient emergency care including, patient assessment, management of respiratory and cardiac emergencies, CPR and AED, bleeding control, stabilization/immobilization of injured bones and/or spine, advanced first aid, trauma care,
transportation methods and techniques, local and New York State protocols and more. The New York State curriculum includes approx 120 hours of course work and hands-on training. NYS Certification is achieved when passing a State Practical as well as a written exam.
Lisa volunteers as part of Team 6, continuing to train under Team Captain Beth Cipperly. Lisa has been riding since August of 2010. Lisa lives in West Hoosick with her husband Bruce and two sons, Joel and Daniel. Lisa is currently enrolled in the Samaritan School of Nursing program working toward her RN degree. She home-schools her sons and is very active in her church. Lisa enjoys reading in her spare time. Lisa joined the Rescue Squad as a way to do community service and has found it to be a very rewarding opportunity. Lisa looks at this experience as a chance to “Improvise, adapt and overcome.”
Pam has been volunteering since of October of 2010. She is part of Team 3 and continues training under Team Captain Sue Eddy. She resides in West Hoosick. Pam is a graduate of Samaritan School of Nursing where she received her RN degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She is currently employed as a home health nurse.
When Pam was approached by a member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue asking if she would be interested in volunteering, Pam jumped at the opportunity. Pam had been interested in helping her community for a while but was not sure the steps to take to join the squad. She is happy to have this opportunity to use her knowledge and skills to help others. “I feel that I take more from this experience than I give. It is very rewarding,” said Pam.
Lisa and Pam both enjoy giving to their community, helping those with medical problems, and being part of a worthy and respectable team. The Town of Hoosick Squad feels lucky to have both as part of the team. Lisa and Pam bring a very positive and cheerful attitude to the squad.
