Alex Bassallo Promoted To 3rd Degree Black Belt

August 5, 2011 By eastwickpress

Alex Bassallo from Babcock Lake Road in Grafton was recently promoted to 3rd Degree Black Belt in a ceremony held at the Stephentown Town Hall. Bassallo’s rank is recognized by the following organizations: John Izzo’s Okinawan Karate, Stephentown Self Defense Systems and Green Island Academy Of Martial Arts.
“On behalf of the instructors and students of these organizations we wish to congratulate Mr. Bassallo on his achievement,” said  Sensei Robert M. Fish.
Alex is the husband of Laura and the father of Phoenix, Daniel, Caroline, Dominique, Eva and Sonya. Five of Bassallo’s six children are students at the Stephentown martial arts school. Bassallo has been a faithful student and instructor with Sensei Fish since 1999 when he started in his Green Island school. Previously he had trained for seven years in various disciplines of the martial arts.
“We wish to recognize his commitment and dedication to God, his family and the Martial Arts, and we know this is just one more step in that journey that we call life,” said Sensei Robert M. Fish.
Fish made special note of appreciation to the Town of Stephentown for the use of the Town Hall for the promotion ceremony and the Stephentown Youth Commission for its continued support of this community program.
