Beating The Heat

August 5, 2011 By eastwickpress

These girls beat the heat during the first installment of the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) Summer Enrichment Program, which was held July 11-15. The theme of the week was “H-2-Ohhh” and children enjoyed all sorts of water games, including water balloon battles, sprinkler games and a freeze pool! The week ended with a celebration for parents and friends who visited the “Hooville Island Resort” where they could view surfboards (created by the children), enjoy a milkshake or a s’more, dig for souvenirs on the beach and have their SPF checked. The enrichment program continues the weeks of August 8-12 and August 22-26 at the Youth Center. Photo courtesy of the HAYC3.

Fun for school age children continues this fall with the HAYC3 After School Program. Space is limited, but there are still a few openings for Fall 2011. The program takes place at the Youth Center from 3:30 to 6 pm. Children can take a bus from the school to the Center, and, as a registered School Age Child Care (SACC) program with New York State, the Youth Center is able to accept County childcare reimbursement. Membership in the Youth Center is required. For details and to enroll in the after school program, call Aelish or Beth at 518-686-9050.

Puppets large and small were the focus of the second week of the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) Summer Enrichment Program, held July 25-29. Participants created larger than life puppets, hand puppets and marionettes. They also wrote and starred in a series of puppet shows presented to family and friends on Friday afternoon. The enrichment program continues the weeks of August 8-12, and August 22-26 at the Youth Center.
Learning and enrichment continues this fall at the Youth Center’s After School Program. As a registered School Age Child Care (SACC) program, the HAYC3 After School Program offers supervised care, enrichment and homework help in a safe, friendly and fun environment. Space is limited and is open to students in grades k-3 (older children up to grade 6 are allowed in the program on a case by case basis). Call Aelish Nealon or Beth Dillard at 518-686-9050 for details and information on registering.
