Hoosick Grange News

August 5, 2011 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Grange met on July 27, with Master David Cornell. After the business meeting we had the Lecturer’s program. Betty Kipp was in charge of the program. Betty started out with a poem titled “Good Morning God.” She had two jokes and another poem by Helen Steiner Rice. She asked us if we remembered the autograph book we would get people to sign back when we were kids. They would write poems or some silly thing. One of Betty’s favorites was “Two In The Hammock.” Betty’s musical number was a stuffed bear playing a song “Cotton I Joe.” She had a poem Vera Griswold wrote titled “I Made A Friend Today.” Betty had a few more jokes – Do you know what a birthquake is? It’s a baby boomer. She had a game on Mother Goose Rhymes with prizes. We thought we knew them all, but we didn’t. She had a closing thought – We have learned to fly through the air like birds and to swim under the sea like fish. All that remains is to learn to walk the earth like men. The Lecturer thanked Betty for an interesting program.
After some delicious refreshments, the Lecturer announced that Hoosick Grange will meet on August 10. There will be a hot dog roast and covered dish supper. This is an open meeting – invite guests and family. It’s also Game Night – Bingo and Prizes. Grangers bring some wrapped prizes, please.
