Hoosick Hometown Days Is This Weekend

August 26, 2011 By eastwickpress

It’s finally here!  The First Annual Hoosick Hometown Days will be held in partnership with the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) on August 25 – 27 at the Town of Hoosick Athletic Fields. Throughout the weekend, the grounds will be filled with vendors, concessions by local non-profit organizations and carnival rides and games provided by AmyLand Amusements.
The weekend kicked off with a “non-competitive” softball game on Wednesday at 6 pm at the Little League Fields between our local fire and police departments. Thursday evening featured live music by Joe Shaw and Chuck Carr, Together Again.
On Friday the grounds host a Car Cruise-In, live music by Shari Hand, Krissy Fauler and Wayne Willson, Texas Hold’Em and a performance by the Hill Country Cloggers. The evening will close with music by Squash.
On Saturday, there will be a Car Show hosted by local Girl Scouts, a chicken barbecue at 4:30 sponsored by the North Hoosick Fire Department, an appearance by the Tri City Valley Cats, a Meet and Greet with several community fire departments, a dunking booth with local “celebrities,” live performances by local band Car Ma and the nationally recognized Stephen L. Smith band. The festivities will be topped off with music from Best Sound DJ Matt Shaw and a fireworks display provided by Alonzo Fireworks.
Hours are 5 to 10 pm on Friday and noon to 10 pm on Saturday.  Sponsors are needed to help offset the costs for the entertainment and fireworks.  Contact Jerry McAuliffe at 518-527-6362 or email jmcauliffe5@aol.com for more information.
