Petersburgh – John S. Weaver, 73 of Prosser Hollow Road, Petersburgh, NY, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after being sticken while driving in Grafton, NY.
Born May 26, 1938, in Petersburgh, he was the son of the late John and Florence Moon Weaver. A life long resident of Petersburgh, he attended Berlin Central Schools. He worked for W.J. Cowee, Co. Inc. in Berlin, NY, and the Pownal Tannery in North Pownal, VT, and was an operating engineer for Local #106 for over 20 years, lastly working for Rifenburg Construction, retiring in 1995. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed farming.
Survivors include his two daughters, Wendy Weaver and Debra Hoffman, his siblings, Dorothy Alderman, Eleanor Jones, Betty Weaver and Larry Groux, all of Petersburgh, four grandchildren and a great-grandson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are on Friday, August 12, at 11 am in the Weaver Family Cemetery, East Hollow Road, Petersburgh.
Relatives and friends were invited to the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, for visitation on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
