Hoosick – Marion (Webster) Lohnes, 100, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. She had resided on the Hill Road in Hoosick, NY, and was the wife of the late Harold G. Lohnes; they were married for nearly seventy-two years.
Born on August 24, 1910, in Hoosick Falls, NY, Marion was the daughter of the late William Alvah and Norma (Shaw) Webster. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1927 from Blanca (Colorado) High School. She was a homemaker her entire life. She was a member of the Guild at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoosick. She was a member of the Hoosick Fire Auxiliary for sixty years. Marion enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, spending time with her family and going on her many trips to Colorado to visit family and friends.
Sharing her wealth of knowledge, she was a wonderful, patient teacher to all. She always looked for the good in people.
She is survived by her sons, Donald R. Lohnes and Charles A. and wife Patricia Lohnes of Canon City CO, her sister, Laura H. Lohnes of Hoosick Falls, her grandchildren, Wanda and husband James Duval, Norma and husband Ralph Cipperly, Wayne and wife Cindy Lohnes, Lorie A. Cipperly and Rey Santos, Donald P. Lohnes, Mary Ann Shaw, Donna and husband Dean Maxon, Jennifer R. Lohnes, Darcy and husband Clint Crites, Christopher and wife Teresa Haynes, Dennis M. Haynes, Robert G. Haynes, Ann Marie Haynes and Patricia and husband Orin Hightower. Marion is also survived by 40 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is pre-deceased by a son, Alvah H. Lohnes, grandsons, Charles E. Lohnes and James M. Lohnes, and sisters, Viola Martin and Carolyn Young.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 11:30 am at the Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoosick Fire Department through the funeral home.
