Stephentown Library Events

August 19, 2011 By eastwickpress

• Summer’s End Celebration! – Our Summer Reading Program wraps up with our Annual Ice Cream Party and a Puppet Show extravaganza on Saturday, August 20. Tweens and Teens (ages 8 and up) are invited to join us at 10 am in the Community Room for an Introduction to Puppetry led by Catherine Ramey.  Make your own puppets and plan a puppet show using traditional folk tales from around the world. Pizza lunch will be served to participants in the puppet production. At 2 pm, we invite our younger audience (under age 8)  to join us for a puppet show, make your own ice cream sundaes, courtesy of Stewart’s Shops, and prizes for Summer Reading Program participants.  All are welcome to join the fun!
• Drop In Crafts for Kids – On Tuesday, August 23, at 1:30 pm we will make planters with duct tape in a variety of fun and funky colors and patterns. On Thursday, August 25, at 1:30 pm we will make wallets using Capri® sun packets. Both crafts will be led by Heather Ryder.
• Back to School Backpack Raffle – Take a chance on this great collection of useful and fun items and help your Library while you do your Back to School Shopping! The backpack, on display at the Library, contains an abundance of great things – binder, folders, notebooks, crayons, markers, snacks, pens, paper, a calculator, stretchable book covers, pencils – the list goes on and on! Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on Thursday, September 2, at noon.
• Shop For a Cause – You can help the Friends of the Stephentown Memorial Library raise money for the Library and get a valuable coupon booklet in return. Buy the Macy’s Shop for a Cause coupon for $5, and SML gets to keep all of  the proceeds, which we will then put towards our programs and operating expenses.  The  all-day savings pass is good for 25% off most regular, sale and clearance items and 10% on select electronic and furniture items. The savings pass is good in stores and online all day Saturday, August 27. If you can help us, please purchase your coupon at the Library during regular business hours .
If you spend just $20 on one item at Macy’s, the coupon pays for itself.  Please spread the word to your friends and family so that they can benefit and SML can benefit!
