Ernest E. Niles Sr.

White Creek – Ernest E. Niles Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on County Rt. 68 in White Creek, NY.
Born on February 27, 1939, in Kingsbury, NY, Ernest was the son of the late Harold W. and Carrie (Olden) Niles Sr. He attended schools in the Kingsbury area. Ernest worked for the Construction Union in Troy, NY, retiring after twenty years. He then worked for the Town of Jackson Highway Department and later the White Creek Highway Department until retiring from there. Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include his sons, Ernest E. Niles Jr. and wife Donna of Buskirk, NY, Daniel D. Niles of Cambridge, NY, and Shane Niles and wife Heather of North Hoosick, NY, his daughter-in-law, Tami Niles, his sisters Nancy Fortin of East Greenbush, NY, Linda Sherwood of Ft. Edward, NY, and Marion Banning of CT, his brothers, Harold “Sonny” Niles of North Hoosick, Fred Niles of Troy and Richard Niles of White Creek, eight grandchildren, Ernest Niles III of Bennington, Chad and Alex Niles of Cambridge, Scott and Josh Hamilton of Bennington and James, Skye and Marta Niles, all of North Hoosick. Ernest is pre-deceased by his son, Frank Niles, his companion of thirty years, Shirley Mears, a brother, Ronald, and a sister, Harriet.
Graveside services were Saturday, September 24, at 11 am at the Center White Creek Cemetery, Eagle Bridge, NY. Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the SVMC – Dialysis Unit at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the funeral home.
