Hoosick Falls Girl Scouts Commemorate September 11 With A Remembrance Quilt

September 19, 2011 By eastwickpress

Girl Scouts of Hoosick Falls wanted to do something special to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks and that’s how the idea of a “Freedom Means” quilt came to be.
Each of the troops, including independent scouts, designed a quilt square on paper depicting what freedom means to them. The ideas were then transformed by Sharon Messersmith and two scouts,

The quilt, with messages about independence, community, caring for one another and our world, and more, has been on display at the Hometown Hoosick Days, will be available for viewing at the Rescue Squad building following the September 11 Remembrance Walk on Sunday, September 11, 2011, and will make its way throughout the community to different organizations throughout the year, being displayed on a frame constructed by Dick Frey.
Girls or adults interested in learning more about Girl Scouts, should email GirlScoutsHoosick@gmail.com or contact Michele Pacheco at 518-686-4886.
