Letter To The Editor – Dumping Trash Leads To Personal Tragedy

September 26, 2011 By eastwickpress

Dear Editor,
We have a neighborhood problem that is getting worse. Someone has been dumping trash and garbage at various spots in the village. One spot is near the Berlin Library. Everybody is heartily sick of this mess. Mr. Jaeger, our Town Supervisor, has not had time to do anything. The Health Department has been helpful but cannot act until some legal actions are possible. I have called the Code Enforcement Officer, Allan Yerton, but he has not called back yet.
Two days ago our valiant little cat, Violet, fought a rat that the garbage brought on. The vet said she suffered from severe rat bites. She died this morning. We are heartbroken.
My opinion is that a person with so little conscience and caring for the consequences should be in jail.
If a trash bag is found, and it is on our property, I will gladly sign a complaint.
Hope H. Duprey
