Mike Benson Wins Independence Party Line For New Lebanon Town Supervisor

September 30, 2011 By eastwickpress

submitted by the Benson campaign
New Lebanon Supervisor candidate Mike Benson’s campaign to bring new leadership to the Town of New Lebanon government received an important boost with Benson winning a write-in bid to secure the Independence nomination in the September 13 primary.
The primary victory is important, as it strengthens Benson’s position on the ballot. Benson has already secured the Republican and Conservative nominations.
“Residents recognize that there are opportunities to revitalize our Town and improve quality of life. They also recognize that we need new and energetic leadership to move New Lebanon forward,” said Benson.
Benson supporters rallied enough support to capture the Independence line despite the challenges presented by a write-in. Write-ins are considered difficult because supporters have to write in the name of the candidate they are supporting while their opponent’s supporters simply need to fill in a space on the ballot.
Benson’s priorities for supervisor include implementing fiscally conservative policies, ensuring open and responsive government and working to revitalize the Route 20-Route 22 business corridor.
