Parent Toddler Classes At Mountain Road School

September 19, 2011 By eastwickpress

Mountain Road School’s Parent-Toddler classes begin again September 22, 2011. We welcome parents and caregivers with children aged 18 months to three years. The program has been expanded to ten weeks and will be held on Thursdays from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., September 22, October 6, 11, 20, 27, November 3, 10, 17, and December 1, 8 (no groups will be held on Rosh Hashanah, September 29th or Thanksgiving, November 24th). The classes reflect Mountain Road School curricula themes of nature, science and the arts. Activities include both indoor and outdoor play time, storytelling, puppet shows, song, creative play, art and exploration of nature, as well as opportunity for parents to share in child-centered discussions. Our goal is to kindle a sense of wonder, gratitude and devotion, and connect the child to earth rhythms of beauty and respect for all life.
The Mountain Road School Parent-Toddler program is facilitated by Chantal Van Wierts. Chantal specializes in early childhood puppetry and presently teaches puppetry, art and French. She collaborates with other Waldorf early childhood educators sharing experiences and methods on a monthly basis to help enrich the parent-toddler program. Her diverse talents are all well reflected in these sessions.
Education is a journey of a thousand miles and the first step of that journey must be a delight for each student. As such our Mountain Road parent- toddler group is inspired through Mother Nature’s bounty. Parent, child and facilitator come together for two hours on a weekly basis. During this time, play (indoor and outdoor) art, handcrafts, storytelling, and a healthy snack are shared. Our beautiful grounds help children create a relationship with the wonders of the natural world and its cycles. Our circle time of stories, songs and finger-plays as well as our arts and crafts activities are in sync with the seasons. Festivals are celebrated while deepening our connection to the earth and one another.
Tuition for the ten (10) weeks is $200. To register, contact Aimee Johnson at 518-794-8520.
