Ruth Ann Arto

Stephentown – Ruth Ann Wemple Arto, 77, passed away early Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the HPH Hospice in Dade City, FL, surrounded by friends and family.
Born in Stephentown, NY, in 1934, the daughter of Alice Eldridge Wemple and Harold Wemple, she married her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Arto in 1954. She graduated from New Lebanon High School and the Austin Beauty School in Albany, NY, and worked for a number of years as a professional hairdresser. She later sold real estate for the Stephentown Century 21 office. The couple retired to Florida, settling in San Antonio in 2003.
Ruth Ann was an avid gardener and enjoyed the opera, ballet and horseback riding. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her son, Michael and his wife Melinda Arto of West Palm Beach, FL, and her daughter, Anne Marie and husband Curtis Kibbe and grandson Cameron Kibbe of San Antonio. She also has six surviving siblings, Margaret Lehmuth, Robert Wemple, Frederick Wemple, Jane Thomas, Susan Demick and David Wemple.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 8, at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 732 US Route 20, New Lebanon, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth Ann’s honor may be made to the San Antonio Founder’s Garden Club, c/o Ann Kibbe, P.O. Box 1051, San Antonio, FL, 33576.
