Stephentown 2011 Muster Results

On a beautiful pre-Fall day the Annual Stephentown Fireman’s Muster & Community Day got under way last Saturday morning, September 17, at 11 am with the Muster Parade. The Best Appearing Fire Company was judged to be the Hancock Fire Department. The Best Appearing Muster Team was the team from Florida, MA. The Stephentown Youth Commission took first prize with their float “Under the Sea.” Second prize went to the Church of the Crossroads for their “Fishers of Men” float.

At the Muster Field the Girl Scouts had a booth where you could display your creative talent in decorating your own cupcakes. The Youth Commission kept kids busy with a Bouncy Bounce House, fishing for sea treasures in a sandbox and other games.
Muster competition got under way in the early afternoon with Michael Brown serving as Announcer. Just to add to the excitement, the Stephentown Fire Dept. also responded to a rescue call during the muster. The six Fire Companies competing were Bisselville, Florida, Hinsdale, Lebanon Valley, Lee and Stephentown. The results with time in seconds are as follows:

Dry Hose Event – 1) Hinsdale Men 17.00 2) Lee “Tunaville Terrors” 17.77 3) Bisselville 18.89
Midnight Alarm – 1) Hinsdale Men 31.46 2) Hinsdale Women 39.93 3) Stephentown 40.59
Centrifugal Pumping – 1) Lee 39.09 2) Stephentown 57.99
Rotary Pumping – 1) Florida 38.09 2) Hinsdale 48.27 3) Lebanon Valley 74.47
Moving Motor Hose – 1) Lee 26.46 2) Stephentown 26.94 3) Florida 29.97
Oil Fire – 1) Hinsdale Men 19.54 2) Lee 22.23 3) Stephentown 23.69
The Sportsmanship Award went to the Lee Muster Team, the Keep it Fun Award went to the Florida Muster Team and the Hinsdale Women took home the Mal Walsh “Drive It Like They Stole It” Award. Friday night’s Water Polo Competition was won by the Florida Muster Team.
