Stephentown Memorial Library Events – Late September and Early October

September 26, 2011 By eastwickpress

• Family Movie Night – Enjoy a showing of the recently released family film, “Rio,” on Friday, September 23, at 7 pm. This fun family film tells the tale of Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, who meets the fiercely independent Jewel and takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams. This movie is rated G. Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is free and all are welcome!
• Grant Seeking Basics for Individuals in the Arts – Tuesday, September 27, at 7 pm. If you are an individual involved in the arts and looking for funding to complete a project, mount an exhibition, put on a performance, conduct research or anything else arts-related, this Power Point® presentation will show you how to identify funders in the arts, explore the option of fiscal sponsorship and create a step by step plan to find funding for your needs as an individual grantseeker. Preregistration is requested for this class.
• Introduction to Grant Research Online – Thursday, October 6, at 10 am. This one hour workshop will provide a step by step guide to using the Foundation Center Online’s database of almost 100,000 grant giving foundations and corporations. SML is one of only 400 libraries in the country that provide free access to this “gold standard” grant seeking resource. Workshop participants will learn how to query the database, interpret and analyze the information and build a prioritized list of grant opportunities that will provide the greatest likelihood of success. The workshop is ideal for representatives of organizations that would like to learn how to find grants, those seeking individual grants for artistic or other projects and individuals who want to enhance their resume by adding this valuable skill. Pre-registration is requested for this class.
