October 21, 2011 By eastwickpress

Panther Boys Soccer Runs Streak To Six With Pair Of Wins
by Ryan Mosher
The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team continued to make its strong run to the Sectionals with a pair of wins this week. On Friday the boys took on Lansingburgh in a non-league game. The game was very evenly matched, with both teams playing very well. Early in the game, Hoosick Falls took the 1-0 advantage when P.J. Priore fed Justin Gaines who scored the first goal.
The Knights would tie the game a few minutes later when Kevin Lance scored on a rebound.

The two teams then battled back and forth, with the defense and goalies for both teams showing their skills. Panther keeper Cody Gaines had 14 saves while Lansingburgh goalie Noah Cipperly, who came in after the starter was injured, had 9 saves. Hoosick Falls took the final lead close to the end of the first half when Evan Phillips took a free kick and put it past the Lansingburgh defense and into the back of the net.
Senior Night
On Monday the Panthers honored their seniors in their final regular season home game of the year. Those seniors are Aaron Delurey, P.J. Priore, Shawn Harris and Mike McGuire. Their underclass teammates helped give them a final home game they will always remember as Hoosick Falls crushed Granville 9-0. Sophomore Drew Phillips scored five goals, junior Chris LaCroix added three more and Delurey tallied the other Panther goal. Priore had three assists, and there were assists from Max Haar, Tyler Rondeau, Drew Phillips and LaCroix.
With this six game winning streak the Panthers have brought their record to 8-4-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the Wasaren League. Their final home game of the season is scheduled for Monday at Tamarac at 6:30 pm. Winning this game would help the Panthers claim second place in the league.
