Dean A. Kingsley

Hancock – Dean A. Kingsley, 47, of Main Street, Hancock, MA, died on Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, brother and friends after a courageous five year battle with cancer under the care of Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
Born in Hartford, CT, on July 20, 1964, he was the loving son of Richard A. and Alma Whitman Kingsley of Manchester, CT. Dean was the loving husband of the former Donna Grossi, whom he married in Pittsfield, MA, on November 16, 1996.
A 1982 graduate of Manchester High School, Dean attended Paul Smith’s College located in the Adirondack State Park in Paul Smiths, NY, where he graduated in 1984. He returned to Connecticut where he worked in logging for Walgren’s Tree Service in West Hartford, CT. He was the owner/operator of Kingsley’s Tree Service, originally in Manchester before relocating to Hancock in 1994. Dean operated the business until his illness in 2006. Dean received an Eagle Rank with Bronze Palm in the Boy Scout Troop #133 of Manchester, along with being an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop #2 of Pittsfield. He enjoyed doing anything with wood, especially woodturning (lathe). He was a member of the Hancock Baptist Church. While in Connecticut, he belonged to the 8th District Volunteer Fire Department in Manchester.
Survivors, besides his parents, include his wife, Donna G. Kingsley, and his daughter, Hannah M. Kingsley, of Hancock, a step-son, Andrew L. Skodis of New Britain, CT, a brother, Duane A. and wife Elaine Kingsley of Coventry, CT, his in-laws, Louis Grossi of Weathersfield, CT, and Ellen Grossi of New Britain, CT, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday evening, October 3, at 7 pm in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown, NY, where Rev. Angela Buchauer, pastor of the Hancock Baptist Church, officiated. Burial will be private in the Hancock Cemetery. Relatives and friends were invited to visitation at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in Dean’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Berkshire County Central/South, the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department or the Hancock Baptist Church in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
