The Grafton Historical Society’s October meeting will be held at the Grafton Town Hall on October 19 at 7 pm.
Our speaker will be Charles Poltenson, who is a member of the 12th United States Infantry, Company A reenacting group based out of Central New York. A Civil War re-enactor for nearly 15 years he has participated in numerous national reenactments including Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg and Cedar Creek. He was a “background artist” in the feature film Gods & Generals which has recently been re-released on Blu-Ray in an extended Director’s Cut for the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. He lives in Clifton Park and will be speaking on aspects of the rebellion including the unsung role of the Regular Army. He has a deep understanding of a soldier’s life in that era.
More than 75 men from the small town of Grafton volunteered to serve in the Union forces during the Civil War. They served in addition to the men of the regular United States Army.
Please join us on Wednesday, October 19, at 7 pm at the Town Hall. The meeting is free and open to the public. High school children will be especially welcome.
