October 21, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher
In front of their homecoming crowd the Hoosick Falls football team gave their fans something to cheer for Friday night, taking on the Golden Horde of Granville. Quarterback Billy Pine connected with Randy Tutunjian for a 40 yard touchdown pass on the Panthers first play from scrimmage. Tanner Williams was next up, catching a 7 yard touchdown pass from Pine in the opening quarter.
Williams was just warming up for this game though. In a span of 83 seconds, Williams rushed

for two touchdowns of over twenty yards. With :55 left in the first quarter, his 22 yard run (and the extra point) gave the Panthers a 20-0 lead. Then less than thirty seconds into the second quarter, Williams ran in from the 20 yard line for his third touchdown and a 27-0 lead.
The Horde defense could not stop the Panthers, as they marched the ball up the field with ease. Brad Burns got in on the scoring next with a 20 yard run of his own. Then it was Pine’s turn. Pine took a punt and returned it 60 yards for the score, making it 40-0. Williams added one more touchdown with just under two minutes left in the first half.
In the second half, the Panthers’ defense continued to hold the Horde in check. Two minutes into the third quarter, Ryan Hyde picked off a pass and ran it back 64 yards for a touchdown. The Horde finally did get on the board with five minutes left in the fourth quarter when Kody Bardin ran back a punt 75 yards for a touchdown. The final score was Hoosick Falls 53, Granville 6.
The Panthers improved to 7-0 on the season, and are now set to host Taconic Hills on Friday night in the first round of Class C Playoffs.
